I am hoping to make arrangements to order a tickets for our Suzuki students to attend the upcoming Itzhak Perlman recital at Lyric Opera in April. There is more information below. I will be reserving tickets at the $25 dollar level. I plan on reserving the tickets on January 9th, so please email me with the number of tickets that you plan to purchase. I will collect the money for tickets on January 25th.
By reserving them as a group, all of our students will get to sit in the same section and experience the recital together. Below, there is more information about the concert.

From the Lyric Opera Box Office:

Join us Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2 PM for a rare opportunity to hear the reigning virtuoso of the violin - Itzhak Perlman -  live on our stage!

Video screens will provide outstanding viewing for every seat in the theater!

Groups can reserve tickets NOW for what is sure to be a sold-out event; balcony seats start at just $25! Main Floor seats start at just $60, with the best seats available for just $125.  No payment is due with your order and groups can adjust their ticket count.

The Chicago Tribune calls Itzhak Perlman "one of the commanding talents of our time" - don't miss his one and only performance at Lyric Opera!

Of course, tickets are available for loved operas like Madama Butterfly, La Traviata, Die Fledermaus and The Barber of Seville  - call me or visit us at www.LyricOpera.org to learn more!

Potluck items still needed for this Saturday's Dept. Recital!!!

Hey Suzuki parents. Please remember to sign up to either volunteer your time to set-up the potluck or to bring an item to share. Right now I still need Disposable utensils, juice, soft drinks, veggies, fruit, wraps, sandwiches and desserts.... so I can use more of everything. Please help out!
The sign-up sheet is on the Recital Hall door, or you can email me and I will sign you up.
I also still need 3 violin parent volunteers to help with student-wrangling through-out the recital.
THANKS!!

Art Institute Tea Party Performance- December 8th

The Art Institute Annual Treasure Hunt & Tea Party is a fun family event and we are excited to participate for the 3rd consecutive year. Chicagoland families purchase tickets to partake in a treasure hunt around the museum, culminating in a tea party in a ballroom. Our students will perform for these families arriving at the tea party. Each student is allowed to bring ONE guardian to the event. Parents/guardians are being asked to watch the performance from the Balcony area this year, to reduce congestion in the Ballroom. Our students will not need to purchase tickets in order to participate in the performance, but if you would like to bring other siblings or family members then I recommend that you purchase tickets for them:
http://www.artic.edu/event/32nd-annual-treasure-hunt-and-tea-party-day-exploration

They will also have access to the museum for the remainder of the day, as well as the snacks and treats in the Tea Party Ballroom.

String students who are Book 1B level and above, were invited to perform at this year's Art Institute Tea Party Event.

Practice-a-thon 2013. And the winners are...

I am so proud of all of our students who pushed themselves to be consistent with their practice habits this month!  I am also grateful to parents who supported them at home and contributed to our fundraising campaign.
While so many of our students racked up the minutes this month, there can only be a 1st and 2nd place in each level. I am impressed with the amount of time so many students spent practicing this month.

So, the winners are…

Level 1-2:
1st Place- Andrew Williams at 744 minutes
2nd Place- Matthew Kim at 704 minutes

Level 3-5:
1st Place- Kai Dizon at 2,403 minutes
2nd Place- Henry Auxenfans at 1,888 minutes
